About

Hello! My name is Laura and I am a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (RHN) based in Port Moody. I am inspired by the power of food and its ability to heal the body and promote wellness. My goal as an RHN is to educate clients on the health benefits of whole food nutrition to support their body, mind, and spirit.

I have personal experience struggling with health and weight issues, low energy, and anxiety. I am also a mother of two boys who have experienced anxiety, eczema, and food intolerances. I know what it is like to plan meals for kids that may be picky eaters, worrying about getting nutrients into your children when they barely eat anything, hearing them refuse to drink water — I can relate to all of these challenges! I have learned to work through these issues – and I can share them with you!

I am passionate about whole foods nutrition and believe that food is medicine. Eating a whole foods diet can help keep our physical, mental, and emotional health in balance. I take a natural, empathic approach to support my clients, and empower them to make healthy lifestyle and nutrition changes that best support their needs.

I offer an integrative approach to health, working alongside other healthcare practitioners, to help support clients with:

  • Inflammatory conditions
  • Digestive issues
  • Autoimmune Support
  • Weight management
  • Sleep issues
  • Low energy
  • Mental health support (from a holistic perspective)
  • Nervous system support
  • Anxiety and low mood (Increasing mood with healthy food)
  • Nutrition support for addictions
  • Detoxification and cleansing
  • Hormone balancing
  • Blood sugar imbalance
  • Sports nutrition
  • Food allergies and sensitivities
  • Pregnancy
  • Restrictive Diets

I recognize that everyone is unique and needs a different balance of nutrition and support to meet their personal health goals. What works for one person doesn’t necessarily work for someone else. I connect with individuals to uncover what supports them in making changes and create a customized package that best suits their lifestyle.

At my practice, I offer one-to-one holistic nutrition counselling, meal planning, nutritional shopping tours, and in-home meal prep support as well as kitchen cupboard makeovers. I work with my clients to create individualized plans to meet individual needs. For some, that may mean a few conversations, some meal planning, and a grocery list. For others, it could mean an entire pantry overhaul, tandem grocery shopping, and step-by-step meal and recipe planning.

I have previous experience working in the helping field as a youth worker. For over ten years, I worked with homeless, street entrenched and at-risk youth in Vancouver. I supported clients and helped empower them to make healthier lifestyle choices. I worked with youth to provide counselling, addictions support, and mental health support; as well as supporting them in finding housing, grocery shopping, cooking, planning meals etc. This work inspired me to further explore the connection between nutrition and mental health as I believe holistic nutrition plays a strong role in supporting good mental health. In 2015 I decided to go back to school to follow my passion for nutrition and graduated with merit from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition (CSNN) in Vancouver, B.C. in 2017.

When I’m not meeting with clients and making meal plans, I’m spending time with my family, out riding horses, practicing yoga at Loam, hiking in the forest and working out at Lift fitness. These activities support my self-care and help me to ensure strong personal mental health.
